Kassy-san, a member of WordCamp Kansai 2016, is the 3D Wapuu’s creator of WordCamp Kansai 2016. And then, he started the serialized report at this site.
Therefore, I would like to introduce the first story in English.

As you know, Wapuu is the official mascot of Japanese WordPress.org.

All component’s files (SVG, Vector, and some other file format) for Wapuu have been opened to the public by GPL. Thus, there are various Wapuu created by WordPress local communities or in the world.

Why don’t you try to create 3D Wapuu?
I was interested in the creation of 3D Wapuu because it’s possible to become the first creator! Thus, as a result of my check, I found out the 3D Wapuu’s data on GitHub.

Prototype for Wapuu’s 3D Model
I began to create it using 3DCG software in drunken momentum after party of WordBench Osaka (WordPress local community) on 16th January, .
… one hour later …
This is not good quality, but I felt the operation might be easy.
… one hour later (total two hours later) …
Ummm.. I thought it is difficult to create around mouth, but the quality is ok!
Oh! I could to create the prototype for 3D Wapuu model.
I thought the drinks force is great!
At meeting of a design team
Next day, I introduced it to the organizer (YAT) of WordCamp Kansai 2016 at the design team’s meeting.
Me（ ･ω･）<YAT-san, I tried to create 3D Wapuu.
YAT-san（ ･∀･）<Oh!
YAT-san（ ･∀･）<Could you print it to a 3D printer?
Me（；ﾟДﾟ）<What!? I have never used a 3D printer!
YAT-san（ ･ω･）<It’s no problem. Why don’t you try it?
Me（；･ω･）< It’s O.K. I know my friend who have a 3D printer, so I’ll try to talk to him.
YAT-san（ ﾟДﾟ） < Sounds good!
Thus, my challenge for printing out a 3D Wapuu by a 3D printer kicked off.
There was no way of knowing that it takes a long time for resolving printing error….
Well, I could improve my 3D Wapuu’s model after the meeting finished.
