Hi, I’m Kimiya Kitani, a member of WordCamp Kansai 2016.
Today, I’m glad to be able to introduce the second story for the 3D Wapuu!
Kassy-san, a member of WordCamp Kansai 2016, is the 3D Wapuu’s creator of WordCamp Kansai 2016. And then, he started the serialized report at this site.
The second theme is “Let’s challenge to print the 3D Wapuu to the 3D Printer!”.
(The first story is here).
I would like to introduce the second story in English.
Hi, I’m Kassy, a member of WordCamp Kansai 2016.
Well, my challenge for printing out a 3D Wapuu by a 3D printer kicked off by the drinks force.
What’s the next step I should?
Get the permission to use a 3D printer!
The 3D printer is unknown territory for me, so I need to talk to my friend who have it.
Fortunately, I got the permission to use the 3D printer. Thank you for the cooperation!
Create Output data
Next step, I need to create the 3D output data.
I have improved it for a long time…
The special feature is to give a 3D appearance by extruding the part of the logo.
Let’s print out!
Finally, let’s challenge to print the 3D Wapuu to the 3D Printer!
I use the following the 3D printer!
MakerBot Replicator 2
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00EEQA1EQ
Amazon Japan price is 344,800 yen.
I thought a 3D printer is very expensive, but the model is reasonable! Of course, it isn’t never cheap. Thank you very much for my friend’s cooperation!
In case of printing out by the PC to this 3D printer, the software “MakerBot Desktop” is used.
I imported the Wapuu’s 3D modeling data to the software.
It’s successful!
And then, I read the manual and tried various operations.
Raft? I see. It’s better to make the basis under the Wapuu…
Support? I see. It’s better to make the columnar support…
I adjusted the data with the Raft and the Support.
Well, let’s print out!!
Wheeen… Wheeen … Pip Pip Pip ….
Wow! It started to be printed out! Go Go Go!!
There are about 5 hours remaining.
Ummmm. It takes for a long time!
It exceeds more than 30%.
The contents are formed become honeycomb structure. I think the aim is a saving.
It exceeds more than 70%.
It exceeds more than 90%.
Completed!
Ummmm. It’s not really that bad.
I’d like to improve the logo, so I arranged it using the nipper.
Oh my god! A bottom part came out of it.
That’s life. Let’s try again in the laid state!
But, there was no way of knowing that it was beginning of the nightmare regarding printing error..
To be continued..
